Curriculum
LCWA’s method of instructing the curriculum incorporates both content instruction and intervention within small group settings.  Students rotate to learning centers within a block schedule period which facilitates delivery of Standards Based grade level material, supplemental materials, accommodations/modifications and instruction of research based literacy intervention programs.

All students participate in a full range of tasks and problem solving. The program takes advantage of student diversity to make materials accessible by using students' own experiences to help create the specific contexts for working with mathematics. Students take responsibility for their learning; they question, create, and problem solve. Teachers are facilitators of learning as well as imparters of information. All students use manipulatives, calculators, and computers

The English-Language Arts subset of California Standards appropriate for students with significant cognitive disabilities are divided into 5 strands, Reading/Word Analysis, Reading Comprehension, Writing Strategies, and Listening and Speaking. Students at LCWA taking the California Alternative Performance Assessment are instructed using the standards-based curriculum outlined in the CAPA standards.
